Stackdown is a free daily word game that combines the stacked tiles of Mahjong Solitaire with word puzzles. Letter tiles are layered in a diamond formation, and only exposed tiles can be tapped. Spell the hidden 5-letter words to clear the stack layer by layer.

How many words do I need to find?

Each puzzle hides 6 five-letter words, and they must be found in order. At any moment there is exactly one correct word you can spell.

What does "exposed" mean?

An exposed tile is not covered by any tile on a higher layer — it looks bright and can be tapped. Clearing tiles uncovers the ones underneath.

What happens if I spell the wrong word?

When all 5 slots are filled with the wrong word, the tiles fly back to the stack automatically. You can also tap a letter in the slots to return it, along with every letter placed after it.

How does the star score work?

Every puzzle starts at 5 stars and each hint you reveal costs one star, down to a minimum of 1.

When does a new puzzle come out?

A new daily puzzle unlocks every day at midnight in your local time. Past puzzles stay playable in the archive.

Is there a mobile app?
